The Story

Dotted started as a side project by Fredrik, a solo iOS developer from Norway, who thought a dot-style world map would look cool. While filling it in with his own trips, he realized his camera roll already had all of it: every country, every date, just sitting there. A few weeks later, the side project had turned into a full travel tracker that pulls years of trips out of photos you already have.

What It Does

Smart Import

Dotted scans the user's camera roll on-device, finds where photos were taken, and groups them into trips automatically. Years of travel are recovered in seconds, with no uploads and no servers involved.

A dot map of the world

Every country a user visits lights up on a dot-style world map. Users can flick the map into a spinning globe and watch their dots from any angle.

Travel timeline

Trips are arranged chronologically by year, each with the country flag, dates, and a mini dot map. Tap a trip to see notes and photos from that time, pulled directly from the user's camera roll.

Stats dashboard

Users see their percentage of the world visited, continents explored, and progress across 265 countries and territories. Three counting modes (UN 195, UN 197, all 265) accommodate different definitions of "visited."

Share cards

Beautifully designed 9:16 cards built for Instagram Stories, TikTok, and group chats. Map, ring, and flag layouts. Transparent backgrounds for clean overlays.

Privacy-first by design

Photo scanning runs entirely on-device. Nothing is uploaded, no account is required, and trip data syncs through the user's own iCloud account.
